Halloween

Speaking of updating often I know I have been a blogging slacker and I have a lot a valid excuses that I won't bore you with, but I will try to do better and should have lots to blog about with the holidays approaching.

This last month has been unbelievably beautiful with sunny days and warm weather. My mom came to visit us for the last two weeks of October and while she packed for a month of cold weather, we all ended up in short sleeves and on one day shorts! Generally, it is freezing for Halloween but this year all of the kids got to show off their costumes instead of burying them under layers of fleeces and down jackets. There are signs that winter is here though, last night we got our first snowfall of the year. It was nice to wake up and see the dusting of snow covering the ground and even nicer that the sun is shining and the wind died down enough for an early morning stroll to the Stone Cup Cafe with Wendy and "M". As wonderful as summer was we are looking forward to winter (although I will be green with envy after the first powder day I miss and probably suffer from a horrible case of cabin fever by the time spring arrives).

Halloween was a lot of fun this year. We spent a wonderful day at the pumpkin patch running through the maze, jumping in the air castle, petting goats, and picking pumpkins.

Sweet Pea didn't really understand what the trick or treating was all about, but she loved seeing all of the decorations and costumes. Nana even taught her what a spider is and how to say it so while we were walking around the neighborhood Sweet Pea pointed at decorations saying "PIE-DIR". Nana and Sweet Pea had so much fun together during Nana's visit. Ever since Nana left she has talked about her daily. She brings me the phone and says Nana, Nana, Nana. We are very excited that our schedules worked out for us to be able to visit NC for Thanksgiving so that we get to see everyone soon.
