Last weekend there was a slight smell of patchuli in the air, the sounds of guitars, mandolins, and banjos came from every corner of town, and smells of various foods like dumplings and funnel cake tempted the taste buds. This all could only mean that it was Festival time. This year was fantastic. Will and Chris and Chris' parents came into town to enjoy the festivities with us and Sweet Pea ruled the fairgrounds. The music line up was outstanding as usual and everyone from the neighborhood was there shaking their booties.
It was exceptionally hot so we spent a few hours of the day in the river which was actually the closest we got to the stage all weekend. Sweet Pea and M splashed and threw rocks in the water. Sweet Pea was really funny about throwing the rocks. When I first handed her one she just stood there and held onto it. I gave her another one and she held onto it too. When I showed her how to drop one and make it splash she looked at me as if saying "why did you do that" then she took her rock and gently placed it down in the water. She eventually got the hang of it and started plunking rocks in the river to make them splash. You could watch the wheels turning in her head.
Sweet Pea and M have become great buddies. They have both learned how to give hugs and kisses and they are always smooching on each other. M also learned how to say Sweet Pea's name and now whenever he sees her he does a little dance of excitement and says it over and over. These kids are just too cute.
After the excitement of the festival was over we got back to our version of normal.
Sweet Pea is still swimming. We go every Thursday to a group class. She has so much fun. We sing a version of the wheels on the bus about the babies in the pool and they splash their hands and kick their feet....Sweet Pea gets way into this and splashes with her whole body. She has learned to swim short distances and float on her back.
Next week Sweet Pea and I go to the east coast to visit Grammy and Bopper and Nana and Granddaddy. Unfortunately, Hubby can't get away from work right now so it will be just the girls. We can't wait to see everyone.....just pray for us that the flights go well and that all the travel is safe.
